Fall inspiration

Greetings from Hilton Head!

Pete and I are having a great time here in South Carolina. Today we are going to try out kayaking and seeing some wildlife here along the island.  I'm soo excited I can't stand it.  I hope we get some great pictures to share and maybe even see a dolphin or two.

Before we left Calgary it was really feeling like fall despite the warm weather.  The colours on the falling leaves were soo pretty.

I have two beautiful cards from swappers at Convention that I just have to share.

More Masculine cards - Horse Frontier

Here are some more great ideas with the stamp set Horse Frontier.  I was surprised how many different samples I received with this set but they are all fabulous and so evoke a different mood depending on the colours used in the card.

Andrew's new room

I have been asked by many of my friends, customers and family what we're doing without hockey.  Well, despite being sad and having our fingers crossed for a resolution we have started a new project.  Well, not me but Pete.

We have wanted to paint the kids room for a while now and this past week we  tackled Andrew's room.  After clearing out the furniture and hundreds of books to the hallway.

TADA!!!

This is one feature wall as soon as you walk into his room.  We painted (ha ha I mean Pete painted) the wall with this bright blue and green and we added 3" chair rail in white to make up the stripes.  We bought this logo last Christmas in Victoria and VOILA!  The other walls we are planning to paint a nice gray.

WE LOVE IT and thankfully so does he!  Now we just have to wait until the season starts.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers,
K

PS For all of the Flames fans out there you can TOTALLY do this too with Flame colours.  It just won't look as cool - hee hee.

Back to School scrapbook page

Last Friday I had my second scrapbook club group meeting and I just HAVE to share this page with you.

I love how each club member adapts my page to meet their needs.  Some create the page exactly (or as close to exactly) as they can; sometimes I don't have a certain pattern paper like mine so they have to adapt :)  And some go out of the box.  I REALLY wish I had photos of my 1st scrapbooking groups pages two Fridays ago.  Their pages were super cool too.  Next month I'll remember to take photos of their pages.

Here is my page.

And here is Sharmaine's.  She did a fantastic job with the pencil.

You must get this paper if you haven't ordered it yet - Orchard Harvest is soo purdy.

126895 Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper - $13.50
Thanks for stopping by. Today is packing day :)  One more sleep.

I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the fantastic warm weather.

We had a busy weekend with house stuff, classes, painting and more.

. . . and it just keeps going!

Seriously!!

Thursday started out great, got tons of errands completed (unlike yesterday) and Nathan came home at 1pm from his half day at school.  We had lunch together and I heard all the scoop from Middle school.

THEN I sat down to start mass producing these for a craft fair I'm attending in November.

I proceeded to make 37 of these.

Do you notice anything wrong?? THE KISSES ARE COMING OUT OF THE ERASER!!!  THIRTY SEVEN TIMES!!!!! AGH!!!

So after and emergency phone call to Pete to buy me some more kisses I fixed them and salvaged the pencil bases and now I have 37 Hershey Kisses to eat.  The wrapping was torn in the fixing process, but for some reason the kids don't see a problem with this.

Well, that was my day yesterday and I'm hoping for a much more smooth and productive Friday.

Geesh!

Have a great weekend!

Cheers,
K

You ever have one of those days . . . .

You know the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day kind.  Just like the kids book.

Well that was my afternoon yesterday.  Nothing super terrible happened but my list of errands took all afternoon and everywhere I went something went wrong so it just piled up to be "one of those days."

Today will be better!  That's my positive attitude talking!!

On to my project for today.  I saw this cute card on the Stampin Connection website and I knew I had to make it for my kids camp.  This was one of the projects that got "cut" from our September class but we'll be doing it in October for sure!

Original card from Clair McIlhatton
I know they are going to LOVE this card project.

A WOW and a half card!!

Last week I started preparing for October's WOW class.  There is a super cute card in the SU catalogue that I knew I wanted to CASE, possibly for the WOW class.

Once I made it I realized it was going to be a little bit over the top and hard to make in a class setting but here is a video from Shannon West from Stampin Up if you are brave and want to try.  Just kidding, it wasn't that difficult.

I'm REALLY happy with the WOW projects I did come up with and October's class will be dedicated to Kari. She asked for techniques and techniques she received.  You'll have to wait until October 1st to see the cards but I think they are pretty cool.

Have a great Tuesday!

K

September Cardmaker club projects

Last night we had a great time at our first club meeting.

I created this mini project for everyone to be able to re-create on their own!!  It's a simple card purse that I found on splitcoast stampers.  It was super easy!

Wouldn't this make a great hostess gifts for the fall!

Plus at Convention, I learned a new ribbon tip from Dawn Griffths.  The In colour stitched ribbon is a fantastic weight for knots, bows and the colours are just fab!  And it's even FREE this month with any purchase over $50!!

Isn't this super simple card soo sweet!  Thank you Dawn for teaching us this trick.

If you want to join in the fun I do have a couple of spots available in my Cardmaker's club and we meet the third Wednesday of the month.  The minimum monthly order is $30 and each month I teach a new technique and 2+ projects like this card purse and cards.  As a club member you gain all the benefits from hosting one card workshop, advance entry to my annual retired sale, Idea book and seasonal catalogues and FREE shipping the month you host.

Check back tomorrow to see my Scrapbooker's project for September.

More Club Create projects

I had a fabulous Monday and I hope you did too!  I got the kids off to school (on the bus :) ), went to yoga and got all my club project samples for this week done! Woo hoo!

Now, what to do today???   Ha, that's funny I have a list about 10 miles long so I won't be short of any projects that need to be done or planned for.

I still want to share the pop up cards we made for the Club Create class.  The first was a pop up card I designed and the second card was a Halloween do it yourself card.  I gave the kids the supplies and they created there own version of this card.

After that we used what little time was left to start a decorated journal.

They chose from a selection of Designer Series papers and now we just have to bling it up with decorations.

See the pen to match!
October's class we'll complete these journals and start some fun Halloween projects!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Pop up cards from Inky Thumbs

This weekend we had a fun kids camp weekend and as usual I planned WAY too much to do in the time we have.  It's always better to have too much than too little.

I had several new stampers in each group so we worked on a beginning technique sheet plus it helped refresh some the "veteran" stampers on cleaning and caring for our stamps :)

In my younger group "Inky Thumbs" we held true to our name when I had ink on my thumbs and fingers in the first 10 min .  By the end of class over half of us were inky!

One of our first projects was a simple pop up card.

They did a great job on their first project and then we made an Owl pencil holder. I can't remember where I got the idea for this Owl so I apologize to whoever came up with it first.

We also made this at the Mom and Me class on Sat and it was hit with the 4-7 year olds too.

Here is a recipe card on how to make this project.  The base can be a frozen juice tube, but I took the easy route and bought these from a craft store.

I can't wait for next month and I can finally share with you the rest of the projects I planned.

Have a great start to your week!

Cheers,
K
