Why I love being a demonstrator?

This is one big reason why I love being a demonstrator!  I get UPS shipments fairly frequently and when they are this big it's a reason to get excited!

Check out that ribbon!!

As you can see I needed to replenish my paper stash and ribbons for my ribbon shares.  Off to wrap more ribbon.

I'll be getting back to creating soon once the kids are back in school!  I have lots of new projects I've been working on to share in the coming weeks.

Don't forget the September WOW class project will be posted Sept 1st and registration starts once it has ben posted.

I wish all the moms and kids out there a smooth back to school tomorrow.

K

Junior High update

Hi :(  I just had to share the feeling I had as I dropped Andrew off to JR HIGH this morning.  He had a "Head Start" day where just the grade 7's went to school today.  They get a tour, find out their home rooms, lockers etc.
I asked him if he wanted me to go in with him and he said "no, I'm okay to go by myself."  So I thought great independence, let him tackle it on his own.  Then he hops out of the van, heads to the building no problem and THEN I see all these parents stopping, getting out and walking their kids to the door.  UGH - pit in my stomach and now feeling like a horrible parent.

Quick text to Pete and he reassured me he'll be fine and not to worry but then writes, "BTW, does he have his phone?"  ACK!!!  He forgot (and I forgot to remind him) about taking his phone.  That's what happens when you have a whole two months of summer.  Routines, lists and organization are out the window!  NOT good if you know me at all as I THRIVE on ORGANIZATION!

So my quick advice to all the parents out there:
Before the first day of school double check your list and make sure you have everything ready the night before.  Better yet start today because you will forget something.  Nathan's first day is Thursday and hopefully that will be a smoother more relaxed start.

Christmas Gift card holders

Here is something creative for today!  Last week, I had a request to create some gift card holders so I came up with a few different designs.  They all have the same base but can be customized to your liking.

I used the Big Shot Fancy Favour die to create these.
Die cut on of these boxes and cut out the parts as shown.  Fold on the score lines and decorate as desired.  Adhere the edges with sticky strip.

The inside piece measures 2 7/8" x 8 1/2.  Cut 1" off of the end to make it 2 7/8" x 7 1/2 and save this piece.  Score at 3 3/4" and glue the sides of the 1" piece onto the top of the "card" to create the gift card pocket.

I hope you have fun creating gift card pouches for all sorts of occasions!

Blog Candy today!

Happy Monday!

Just a quick post because today is a FAMILY DAY! Last one before school begins :(

A quick shout out to Laurie for attempting my last hard blog candy question and joining me as a follower! I'll be sending you something for sure!

So I promised a blog candy and I shall deliver.

Please post a comment that answers the following question - How many stamps/stamp sets do I own from the new Holiday Mini??

That should be an easy one! Hint - it's not all of them, but I wish. I'll post the correct answer and winner on September 1st!

I'll be back tomorrow with something creative.

Cheers,
K

More Spice Cake samples

I posted a little blog candy contest on Monday but in hindsight it was a little hard.  Okay a lot hard but I really want to hand out some cool Blog candy from the Holiday Mini catalogue, so be sure you check back on Monday so you can enter.  Promise the question will be much easier!

The kids and I have had a fun week with laser tag on Wednesday (with Pete since he took the afternoon off) and yesterday we spent the morning at Tommy K Play.  The kids had a super fun time and it allowed me to get some dreaded computer work that has been hanging over my head.

Here are the product samples from Convention showing the Spice Cake product line.

These fabulous colours and products are on my list for creating the September Club projects.  I can't wait!

Have a great weekend!  It's garden work for us this weekend.  I've been horribly neglectful of our yard this year and now I'm paying the price.  Next year it'll be better :) and in the fall, I'm planning to plant a few new tulips too.

A liitle Spice Cake Sneak peek

Yesterday was a super productive day I didn't want it to end (so I stayed up way late.)  Actually come to think of it every night for the past three weeks I've had a hard time getting to bed.  Hmmm, I think that has coincided with the arrival of my new Holiday Mini goodies.

I think most of you have received the Holiday Mini catalogue by now so I can tell you to flip to page pg 16 - 18.  Now say, Oooooo, Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!  This paper is to die for, the stamp set is amazing and the fabric is incredible.

One of the first things I had to try was to decorate the card box (pg 35) with these co-ordinating products.

First I covered the lid with fabric.  It's super easy to do as there is a template and easy to follow instructions included with the card box.

Then I made this "ta da" flower for the top.  I wound some fabric around the center of the Spice Cake BIG buttons.

Then I covered the dividers with the co-ordinating DSP and added some labels to the card dividers.

Now, that I have amazed you with this beautiful card box I have to tell you I TOTALLY copied from the box we made from Convention.

See  . . . (if you are a regular blog follower you'll know I posted this picture before).

But now I added labels for the dividers.  I can't wait to make some more of these boxes.  These would make fabulous gifts for Christmas - hint, hint.

Thanks for stopping by.

ps Thanks Brenda for saying you like the wordier posts. This one's for you!

Kids Camps begin in 2 weeks!!! A few spaces left!!

Can you believe school begins next week?!?!?!  Crazy I say!

Andrew has his first day on Tuesday but it's just a half day with all the grade 7's so they can tour the school, lockers (yikes) and walk around the community!!  I can't believe we have a son going off to Junior High!! Breathe, Kristine.

Nathan will be heading into Grade 4 and the highest grade in his school.  We won't have to worry about lockers etc until next year when he hits middle school - thank goodness.  By then maybe the shock will have worn off a bit - maybe.

This week I am going to get busy planning my September club projects which include my two new Kids Clubs - Club Create (7-10 yr old) and Paper Crafter's Workshop (11 and up).  There is ONE spot for Club Create on Sunday mornings 10-12 and a few spots in the Paper Crafter's workshop on either Sat or Sun afternoons 1-3:30.  The clubs run once a month and you register for a 10 month session Sept - June.

Please contact me ASAP if you'd like to register.

During our Kids Clubs we have a fantastic time doing a TON of different projects. The number one question I get is "what do you do during your kids camp?"  So I'll do my best to answer it here.

1) We start with a technique or something new, then create that project.  This year we will be keeping a technique journal.
2) A second project - usually something they can create on their own - card, bookmark, etc.  There is a sample provided so they can copy, but I encourage them to create something of their own.
3) Snack - something small and once a month parents will sign up to bring a snack to share with the group
4) The larger project - This varies from a mini scrapbook, calendar, framed art piece, card box set, baking, and the list goes on.
5) Free stamping time - I have card stock, punches and stamps for the kids to create something on their own. No samples, no limits!

Here are some of projects and creations from last year.  We have a blast!

Crafty bag to hold all of our supplies

Halloween Banner

In Dec we made recipe cards and baked!

Birthday card assortment

More birthday cards

Mother's Day gifts

Decorated canvas boards for their rooms

Don't miss out on all the fun!  Contact me to join Club Create or Paper Crafter's Workshop!  Sorry no moms allowed!

Long posts and a little Well Word paper

Sorry about the long posts the past two days.  Man, I went back and re-read them and whew, those were a like a novel!

This post will be heavy on the pictures - promise.
There are only days left in the Buy three, get one free Designer Series paper special so I thought I'd highlight yet another of the product suites featuring the DSP.
Here are two of my favourite Designer Series papers and they are on their way here with my last order I placed.  I can't wait to create some serious "guy" cards with Well Worn and super cute baby cards with Nursery Nest.  Order your favourite designs today!

Time to start thinking about clubs!

I can't believe its that time again but Sept is around the corner and it's time to think about my clubs again.  This year I have several clubs re-starting including my scrapbookers and cardmakers clubs.  If you or you and a few friends are interested in starting a club to learn techniques, scrapbook, create cards and earn free products contact me and I'll start a list of interested new club members.  Maybe we can start a new club in October beginning with Christmas cards!

Another club I have beginning in Sept is my Big Shot club!  This club runs from Sept - Dec and at the end you will own a BIG SHOT!  The best part about this club is you will now know how to use it!  I have created a "kit" of sorts with the Big Shot machine and several popular accessories including the Top note die, Beautiful Butterfly embosslit, Perfect Polka dots embossing folder and more.  If you already own parts of the kit you may substitute different Big Shot products of equal value.

The cost - $55 per month, over 4 months and you will receive the Big Shot bundle.  The value of this kit is over $325 but you pay just $220.   Once the Big Shot payments have been paid in full, it is yours!

What is in the bundle?

Big Shot machine
Top Note die
Perfect Polka dots embossing folder
Beautiful wings embosslit
Flower Daisies die #2
Perfect Details Texturz plate
Texturz Silicone pad
Texturz Impressions pad
+$35 in free hostess dollars
+ 4 free classes
+ Free 2011-2012 Idea book and Catalogue and all the mini catalogues
+ At every Big Shot class you attend for the 4 months any Big Shot accessory you purchase you will receive 10% off

Here are some of the projects we created at the Big Shot classes last year.

Email me if you have any questions or if you wish to join me in Sept.

Downline gathering recap!

Happy Monday morning to you all!

I hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the lovely sunny weather.  We had a productive day back to school shopping on Saturday and yesterday I had a fantastic downline meeting.  I love our demo get togethers because it is a great time to get inspired and brainstorm new ideas.

Now, I had all these great plans to take pictures and post them today but after everyone left I walked into my room and there sitting on my desk was yep, my camera - untouched.  Ugh.  I was busy telling everyone to take photos of my upcoming classes, card projects and new Holiday Mini items that I completely forgot to take photos myself.  How totally and completely me though.

So after everyone left I did take some photos of the cards we made and two games we did as well.
Yep, there is a little splotch on the sentiment but ink happens :)
Stamps - Stitched Stockings (mini), Delightful Dozen
Paper - Early Espresso, Garden Green, Frostwood Lodge paper (mini)
Inks - Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Garden Green
Accessories - Mini brads, sponges, Early Espresso quilted ribbon (mini)

I did a mock workshop with this card
Stamps - Just Believe
Paper - Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral and In colour Designer Series paper
Ink - Soft Suede pad and marker, Calyspo Coral
Accessories - Very Vanilla Seam binding ribbon, Modern Label punch and sponges, spritzer tool

This card could get really blinged up with some Basic Rhinestones or pearls and some shimmer spray.

And we played two guessing games and yes, I let them use their catalogues.  It was an open book test.

Guess the ink colour

Guess the stamp set
So I'm going to test all of you reading my blog.  Post a comment to my blog with your guesses and I'll pick a winner to receive some blog candy.  Guess just the inks and get 1 entry or try your hand at both the inks and stamp set challenge and get 2 entries.** It must be posted as a comment on my blog and not an email to me.  If any of my downline that attended the meeting is reading this then they, of course, know the correct answers so you shouldn't get them wrong :)

I will announce the winner next Monday morning.

If you think you'd like to join me at my next downline meeting to see what it's all about give me a call.  I will share with you what Stampin UP means to me and answer any questions you may have about becoming a demonstrator.  I truly do love what I do and would love to share it with you.

Thanks for stopping by.

K
