Happy Thanksgiving weekend

Sorry I didn't post yesterday but we were out WAY late at the Vancouver / Calgary hockey game.  Bad mom moment when we rolled in at 11:40 on a school night!!  Eeeek!  Oh well, it is the first game of the season!  Sacrifices!

We had a great time or at least Van fans did.  It was definitely not the smoothest, slickest game but fun was had and we won 4-2!

I have loads to share next week as I made a variety of cards using the Wonderous Wreath stamp set and framelits.  Be sure to check back next week!

New stamps! Blue Ribbon fun!

Last week I received two new stamp sets and hopefully this week I'll share some fun samples with my new rubbah :)  

Today is Andrew's 13th birthday so I made him this one with a new colour too - Soft Sky, Island Indigo and Old Olive.

I can't wait until I can get my hands on all the new colours!

Here is Nathan's card for Andrew.  He did a great job too!  And for those of you interested he and Jade received a bronze medal in the Science Fair this weekend.

Andrew's new room

I have been asked by many of my friends, customers and family what we're doing without hockey.  Well, despite being sad and having our fingers crossed for a resolution we have started a new project.  Well, not me but Pete.

We have wanted to paint the kids room for a while now and this past week we  tackled Andrew's room.  After clearing out the furniture and hundreds of books to the hallway.

TADA!!!

This is one feature wall as soon as you walk into his room.  We painted (ha ha I mean Pete painted) the wall with this bright blue and green and we added 3" chair rail in white to make up the stripes.  We bought this logo last Christmas in Victoria and VOILA!  The other walls we are planning to paint a nice gray.

WE LOVE IT and thankfully so does he!  Now we just have to wait until the season starts.

PS For all of the Flames fans out there you can TOTALLY do this too with Flame colours.  It just won't look as cool - hee hee.

The best customers ever!

I just have to say I have the best customers ever!  I had a class last night which happened to be on the same night as a very important hockey game.  (I'm watching the game as I type this now). Well, a few of them know my love for the Vancouver Canucks (even though they are Calgary fans) but they kidded about leaving before the game started.  They know I won't kick them out (as if) but they were so thoughtful quickly make your projects thinking that I probably wanted to watch the game.  You are the greatest, but you didn't HAVE to leave right away :)

While I'm not delusional to think my team can come back from being down 3 games in the series it doesn't waiver my support!  They CAN win this game!  Go Canucks Go!!!

 Now for the creative side of this post.  A couple of days ago I was finishing up my club projects and had to use up the kits I had made.  Remember I'm on this black card thing, but I quite like them.

A hockey side note and a little cry

  Many of you know I'm a BIG Canucks fan and last night Pete and Nathan went to the Flames and Canucks first preseason game. He told about this video they showed to pay tribute to the hockey players that passed away this summer. Well, I found it and had a little cry this morning.

Even if you aren't a hockey fan I'm sure you can just imagine what the impact and the loss of these young men will have on their families and friends.  Like it says in the video - they were husbands and fathers, sons and brothers . . . they were teammates and friends. 

Rest in peace.

I'm speechless and sad.  This will take a while to recover from.  Thanks to everyone that emailed, texted me last night. Sorry I didn't get back to you, but it was a hard loss.

I wasn't expecting the reaction the two kids had.  Andrew was MAD that his team didn't score.  I tried to tell them that they tried but that was met with no solace. Then he turned sad.  Nathan was sad.  VERY SAD - bawling sad.  He didn't know why he stayed up until 8:45 for nothing. They are disappointed but they'll be happy once they get playing ball hockey this weekend.

I feel bad for them but (sigh) I guess they'll have to get used to it as the life of a Nucks fan.

Thanks for putting up with my hockey posts and I'll resume card making again - sigh.

Please win tonight so I can get up off my rump.

• So my kids can eat a meal at the dinner table instead of in front of the TV on game day (although I'm sure they don't mind)
• So I can listen to something other than TSN, Team 1040 or CBC Hockey Night in Canada
• So I can finally stamp something new and show it to my customers and change this BLOG background!!!
• AND so I can stop listening to all the goofy songs on You Tube dedicated to the Canucks.

I'd really appreciate it and so would my family and friends.

Monday nights Canucks game was UGLY

Really ugly but I'm confident that tonight we'll do better.  

I showed this video to my kids club this weekend so make sure you cheer loud for Vancouver tonight!!!

Go Canucks in Nashville!!

Just a quick post since I had to share the fact that I have been to Nashville and have seen the arena where they are playing tonight.

 I was in Nashville in January for the Leadership Conference for Stampin UP.  On our last day in the city Kim, Allison and I headed downtown and toured the city.  They happened to be playing Chicago that night (BOOOOOO!!!!) so there were tons of Chicago jerseys around the city that day.  If it happened to be a Vancouver game I would definitely have been there!!

Go Canucks Go!

Last night we went to the Canucks vs Calgary game and had so much fun!  No voice and a fantastic game since the Canucks won 4-3!

Look at us all decked out in our blues and greens!

I had to make some cards to commemorate the event.

Nathan's birthday is coming up so I had to make some invites.  Knowing my hockey nut boys, they had to be Canucks themed.  My friend Angela had these fantastic NHL stamps and I made the card fronts to look like the team jerseys.

He is very excited to hand these out and finally turn 9 years old!  Okay, he's looking forward to the cake and presents too!
