Sunny Sesame Street Characters

Although my kids are long past the Sesame Street days I really enjoyed creating these cute punched characters.

I can imagine these topping off the long skinny clear envies with jelly beans or smarties. What a great birthday goodie bag treat for a first birthday!

Here is a card I created a LONG time ago that uses the 1 3/4" scallop punch.

Dinosaur or Crocodile?

In one of my earlier posts this month I was challenged to create a dinosaur or crocodile treat topper so I have been thinking and working on this for several weeks now with no luck.

Thanks to some very creative friends (Lesli, Janice and Jacquie) they gave me the inspiration and assistance to create these.

I'm not sure if the top one looks like a crocodile or dinosaur but it does look like a friendly creature with sharp teeth.  I just love punched creations.  They are soo cute and easy to do!

Thanks for stopping by.

Cardmaker's Club this week!

On Wednesday it will be our second to last Cardmaker's meeting and here are the cards we'll be creating.  It felt a lot like spring this weekend, but that could change at any time so I quickly had to break out the flowers.

This colour combo is super springy - Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze and Concord Crush.  I used the 2 3/8" Scallop circle punch and scissors to create this fabulous daisy.

This card uses the Build a Blossom stamp set and co-ordinating punch.  The colours are Baja Breeze, Pretty in Pink, and Pink Pirouette.  I antiqued the edges of the First Edition Designer Series paper with Soft Suede ink.  In this picture the card looks a little washed out but it is WOWEE when you see in it real life.

Thanks for stopping by.

Awesome scrapbook pages!

Morning!

I'm recovering from a late but super fun evening last night with my scrapbooker's.  We all had that "Friday end of the week" tiredness going on but that quickly changed when we started scrapbooking.

They made some incredible pages so here they are.  I love how the spiral punch makes a cute film strip and allows you to put LOTS of photos on a page.

Great page and love the title!  Not sure about the colour though, might look better in Blue and Green.  Just kidding.

I can't wait to make one of these pages for Andrew and Nathan.  The orange space on the right  side is a great space for journaling.

Love, love, love the hockey sticks!  Can you see the little black paper for the tape on the sticks?  Super great colour scheme too!

Soooo sweet!  I love how this one uses those school photos and shows how much she has grown.
We have one more meeting for my scrapbooking club and then we'll start fresh after the summer (or maybe an August start).  If you are interested in joining a scrapbooking or cardmaking club please contact me ASAP.  I'm gathering names and trying plan for the next round.

Have a a great weekend!

Cheers,

** I guess I'm keeping my blog in "Canuck fashion" for a bit.   Another win last night :)  And thanks for putting up with my sick obsession!

Sneak Peek from the Summer Mini

I can guess you are thinking - SUMMER????  Yep, you guessed it the Summer Mini catalogue is soon going to be in your mailboxes, but I thought I'd share a little sneak peek of my soon to be favourite new designer series paper pack.

It is called Beyond the Garden and I just happen to have purchased the downloadable version for My Digital Studio.

This card can be re-created soooo easily with paper and I can't wait until mine gets here!

If you'd like to get a copy of the Summer Mini contact me.

Superstition prevails

Hockey blog again:)  I changed the look on Wednesday and they won so I thought I'd better do it again.

Go Canucks!

And the winner of my April newsletter code word contest is . . .

Danae D!!!  Congrats Danae!  I have a selection of handmade cards for you!

Did you know you had a 1 in 12 chance of winning the April code word contest?  Good for you but not great odds for me since only 12 people read my last newsletter:(  Oh well, better odds for those of you that do read it!

Now on to a new creation.

This card is my technique card for my Cardmaker's club.  Maybe not as much a technique as it is showing you a new, often overlooked product in the catalogue.  The Presto Patterns Specialty paper (pg 172) appears white on white with glossy designs.  Reveal the pattern with ink, brayer, smooch spritz or sponge. The reason this is sooo cool is that you can match your background paper to match your photos, cardstock and stamps/inks.  Blend your inks and you can create your own custom background paper.
I added a scrunched flower with the new Petals Paisley paper and the Four Frames stamp set holds the sentiment.

 Thanks for stopping by.

Multiple photo scrapbook page

It's scrapbooking time and I have a page to share.  Most of the time I find it much easier to scrapbook "girlie" pages with flowers, butterflies and ribbons, but this page came together quite quickly.  I wanted a page to show off all these great photos we took at the recent hockey game we went to.

The spiral punch (shown on the right page) makes a cool film strip effect when you use the punch on long thin strips of paper.  Take the height of your photo and add 3/4" to the width of the strips you cut. This will allow for you to punch each side of your paper and "frame your photos" like a negative.

Behind the top photos on the left side I have a top note shape cut to put my hidden journaling on.

This page map will work great for any theme where you want to include many photos such as a vacation, sporting event, Christmas or birthday party.

Hope this inspires you to scrapbook today!

Cheers,
K

PS I have to share something Nathan did this weekend and I told him I would post it on my blog.  He had a writing assignment where he had to write what he would do if he were principal of his school.  Pete and I especially like the last sentence.  Go Canucks!!!

1. If I were the principal at Sam Livingston School I would make the school bigger so there would be room for two gyms instead of one.
2. I would make math and science days fridays and gym and social studes on mondays and wednesdays.
3. There would be bigger parks with bigger fields.
4. I would make each recess longer.
5. I would make the school blue, white and green.

New blog look!

I'm pretty sure you noticed the new look to my blog.  I've been a little hockey obsessed so I thought I'd combine my loves - My Digital Studio with the playoffs starting tonight.

It's a little loud in colour and design, but oh well, it was fun to create!

Have a great day!

Cards, cards everywhere!!!

Over the past few weeks I noticed I had quite a few "leftover" cards from various card buffets so I thought I'd make them up and put them in my "for sale" card stash.  As you can see it's been a busy few weeks.

If you see one you like just let me know.  They are $2.50 per card and 5 for $10 and I have TONS more in LOTS of different styles!

Thank for stopping by.

Game Day!!

As well as another busy day in the Burns household today is the last Canucks game in Calgary.  The kids are pretty excited about it and the adults in the house are too.  Playoffs start next week!!
Nathan's Bday cake - Thanks Jennifer!

Now onto another topic. I created these for my Easter class and I was inspired to

create some more candy toppers with different animals.  I like the idea of putting these on kids birthday gifts or as party favours.

This last one was supposed to be a monkey but it turned out more like a bear.  How can I make it more monkey like? Any suggestions?

Can you think of any other creatures to make.  Leave me a comment and I will try to come up with something new!

Cheers,
K
