More glimmer butterflies

I was having so much fun with colouring the glimmer paper I thought I'd try a few more.  Maybe I should try re-inker and an aqua painter to see if they turn out darker???

Here is the card recipe
Paper - Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo and Raspberry Ripple
Inks - Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo and Raspberry Ripple
Stamps - Lace and Lovely, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Other - Sponge daubers, Chevron embossing folder, Word Window and Modern Label punch

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for my Wednesday WOW posting.

Registration starts tomorrow and the first 9 that respond will be in the class.

Coloured Glimmer paper - a whole new world!!

Thanks for checking in!

When Stampin Up came out with Silver and Red Glimmer paper I couldn't wait to see what other colours they would make. This is super sparkly in person and many people's fave - glitter without the glue and mess dazzling diamonds can create.

Silver (124005) and Red (121790) $5.95 for 2 sheets

Then in the Holiday Catalogue appeared and WOW Champagne Glimmer paper.  In person this is to die for!!

Champagne (127885) $5.95
Then when I took the Concept Artist class at Convention they showed us the coolest tip to create Glimmer paper in any colour!

You will need silver glimmer paper, ink and a sponge dauber.  I used the new Elegant Butterfly punch for my card.

Ink the sponge dauber with Rich Razzleberry ink (shown) and pounce the dauber onto the glimmer paper.

Ta da!  Silver glimmer turned Rich Razzleberry glimmer.  This works best with the darker colour inks.

Here is the card we created at my downline meeting on Sunday
.

I absolutely love this and I know my club ladies will love it too!!  I can't wait to try this with them in September.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers,
K

Learn a few tricks from the Concept Artists!

While at Convention I attended a class taught by the concept artists at Stampin UP!  I know, lucky eh?  These are the ladies responsible for unbelievable creative samples in our catalogues, our Stampin Success magazine and display boards at our events.  All day long they play with ink, paper and ribbons but what I found surprising was that more than one of them had a finance background.  Huh, who would of thunk?

These fives ladies all taught/shared with us some of their fave things and each had a pennant designed for us to CASE (Copy and Share Everything).

Each of them had such a passion for their job, Stampin UP and especially for Summer Starfruit and Chevrons - I can tell ya, those are going to be super popular in papercrafting!!

One of the tricks I learned was how to make ombre ribbon out of the new 7/8" Cotton Ribbon (127844 - $9.95).  Here's how:

Cut a length of cotton ribbon

Fill one Aqua Painter (103954 - $20.95 for 2) with just isopropyl alcohol and the second Aqua Painter with 1/2 re-inker and 1/2 isopropyl alcohol.

Paint 1/2 of the ribbon with the Aqua Painter with reinker/alcohol mixture.  Use the just alcohol Aqua Painter to blend the colour through the ribbon.  Lay flat to dry or use a heat tool to speed it up the process.

Don't use paper towel to blot the moisture off as this is what happened to my coloured ribbon.

Voila!  See that fancy ribbon! If you want to make a darker edge along the ribbon you can run the same colour marker along the edge of the ribbon.

Check back tomorrow and I'll share with you the second tip I received from the Concept Artists!

Cheers,
K

Computer glitches start the week!

Hi there

This was supposed to post Monday morning but some unexpected computer issues caused my newsletter to go out late and I wasn't able to access my blog. Argh!

Not to worry as all is fixed!!

This was a busy work weekend for me as I had 2 classes and a downline meeting.  I had a great time crafting with all of you.

I finally had some productive stamping time to create samples for some new classes. Registration for those Christmas classes are in full swing and spaces are filling quickly so be sure to contact me ASAP if you are interested in attending.

At my downline meeting I shared the new MDS2 software and some of the cool new things it can do like
- creating in spreads
- text on a path such a curvy line or circle
- stamp image colouring (solid and line art images)
- colour palette suggestions
- search feature and so so much more. . .

Here is a simple card I designed with one of the designer templates.

If you are curious about My Digital Studio or you have purchased it and haven't installed it be sure to mark Sept 17th on your calendar.  Come by for treats and a night out and see what MDS2 can do!!  If the 17th doesn't work for you be sure to contact me for a one on one MDS2 coffee date.

Over the top samples from Convention - Punch Art

Hi everyone

The week has not started with the positive stamping vibes I had planned but the kids and I have had tons of fun.

Monday we went to the library and yesterday we headed to Chuckie Cheese and bowling.  I think heading back to school in a couple of weeks might be a bit of a shock for the kids and me too!  I've had such a great time relaxing with the kids and doing all the things WE want to do and NO schedule!!!  It's all coming to an end soon which is okay too, but we are definitely going to enjoy the next two weeks!!

So because I haven't stamped at all this week I will share with you something new from Convention.  These samples were displayed at the Hispanic booth and unfortunately I don't know the creator but they are awesome and I had to share!!

Today is a new day so wish me some stamping luck!

Cheers,
K

Convention product suite boards - Birds of a Feather and International Bazaar

Man, how did it get to be mid August already!!  This summer is flying by.

We had a fantastic long weekend of nothing (well, family time and Olympics obsession) and obviously by my lack of posts you can see we've been having fun.

We had a great dinner with friends on Fri night, Sat was a sleep in day (Andrew got up at 11am) and Sunday was Madagascar 3, bowling, a bit of back to school shopping.  Monday we were glued to the soccer match and well, you know how that turned out.  We are soo proud of the womens soccer team and can't wait until tomorrow when we play for bronze.

As I get prepped for next week's BIG retired sale I'll be sharing more Convention product boards.  Take a look at these great samples and jot down your favourites on your wish list.  I sent out over 30 invites to club members and hostesses inviting them to the sneak a peek sale so be sure to watch your mailboxes.

Why do you want to be a demonstrator?

Avery, me, Jes, Allison and Kim
SO YOU CAN JOIN THIS FUN GROUP OF LADIES AT CONVENTION 2013!!!

Who can resist that?  Plus you get that an awesome bag!! (That's for those bag lovers out there)

Seriously though.  Being a demonstrator and joining Stampin Up has been THE best decision for myself and my family.  I'm able to be at home with the kids, work from home and I get to be creative almost every day of the week - or at least every day that I want to be!

It's still a job and hard work but I LOVE it! I get to make cards and scrapbook for a living.  NO JOKE!

I am going to Convention 2013 to celebrate Stampin Up's 25th anniversary so I hope you will make plans to join me next July.

Since returning from Convention I've had a few questions about what it's like.  Well, I found this great article that describes the Convention experience. It is an experience that is hard to describe but definitely one any paper crafter, stamper or scrapbooker would enjoy.

For more details on how to join please check out this post.

New tenants at our house

Hi everyone

Happy WET Thursday morning!

I meant to have this post ready to go but I was busy last night with my Betsy Blossom class and forgot - oops.

I have to share some photos of new tenants we had this week.  First we had robins in the spring and now bunnies in the summer.

Pete discovered this little one by our back fence. He wasn't moving and no sign of mom so we kept an eye on him all day.

I phoned the Wildlife and Rehab center and they said it was natural for the hares to be left alone all day long and the moms return at night. She said if we looked around we may be able to see more and sure enough we did.

Nathan spotted this one after we walked by the tree about 15 times during the day. He would move a tiny bit every so often to make sure he was in the shade of the tree trunk.

After more searching we found this one by our neighbour's house.  This baby was hidden VERY well but not so comfortable in my opinion.

This was the same one by the fence but much more awake later in the day.  Pete said he must be hungry because his mouth was open.  Too bad he had to wait until dusk when the mommy came back.

That evening we saw mom but we left her alone to feed her babies.

Then, the sad thing . . .

We woke up and they were all gone.  We've searched for them every day since Monday but no luck.  I'm guessing they told their mom that they had these PEOPLE spying on them all day so they found a new home.

While I'm the first to be chasing those hares out of our garden (they love eating my tulips), but these babies were just too cute.

Have a great day!

Cheers,
K

PS I forgot to let you know that WED WOW/Big Shot classes will be continuing in Sept so watch Sept 1st for the new project.
