More pics of the Alberta Flood Fundraiser

I could not pass up sharing these last photos with you.  The kids (and teens) were great stampers, so serious and "into" creating the cards.

And some were in to getting the raisin cookies!!

After the event the kids and I assembled the remaining kits!

Thanks Andrew and Nathan for helping me pull this together in less than two days!

 Great photography too, Nathan!

Great day! Alberta Flood Fundraiser!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone to everyone who attended the fundraiser yesterday.

Despite my worry that no one would come I had over 50 people attend the event and we made 74 cards (37 kits).  The total donation so far is $480 plus I have 10 kits remaining.  If you are interested in purchasing a kit of 2 birthday cards for $10 contact me ASAP!  All the pieces are inside, peel and stick, plus add some kid creativity and voila!   I'd love to be able to donate the full $580 to the Alberta Flood Fund by the end of the weekend!

Thank you to my sister, Stephanie who baked yummy cookies for everyone to have after they created!

Check out the fun!

Pinwheels made!

Tables set and ready for the kids!

These were some pretty creative kids!

Thanks for a great day and I hope you enjoyed making your cards!

I . . . think . . . I'm . . . ready

Hey there

Yesterday I was skipping around the house with excitement after each email, phone call or text I received to sign up for this last minute fundraiser I'm trying to pull together.  I hope I have all my bases covered but we'll only know until I try it once!

A couple of things I learned:

1) Andrew does not like crafts (I already knew this but he reminded me several times today), but he is VERY good at math and helped me figure out how many pinwheels and flowers I had to prep.  LOTS!

2) Nathan is VERY good and fast at making pinwheels (much faster than he is at eating).  I had to help with the brad part but in terms of forming them - he's the best!

3) I have the best friends and customers EVER!  Thank you for all the offers of help to prepare, bake and much more for this fundraiser.  Thanks to everyone who shared this event on facebook and emailed it to friends and of course signed up and brought your kids.  You are all so generous!

Here are a couple of pics of the kids and I getting ready for today!

I hope to have more pictures to share tomorrow.

Cheers,
K

Alberta Flood Fundraiser - At the Copperfield Community Center!!!

Here is the email I just sent out to my customers.  Please take a moment to consider joining in the fundraising effort.

This past weekend has been quite surreal and if you are like myself in an area that has not been directly impacted by the flooding, the feeling of helplessness and almost guilt has been washing over me.  When the announcement came for volunteers (people over 18, obviously), it made me feel even more helpless as those of us with kids at home are still wanting to help out but are unable to.  Plus, the news of no school for the next few days puts us parents in the mode of "activity director" sooner than we anticipated.

So this morning I came up with one small thing I (and the kids) could do to help out!

The cards will take about 30 min and I'll be starting the classes on the hour between 10 and 3pm.  Hope you can join me!

UPDATE - I have just received word that Copperfield Community Center has donated their upstairs room from 10-3pm.  All kids and adults welcome!!!  Bring a friend!!!  Please register so I can prep the right number of kits!

Come stamp 2 cards with your school aged student (5 and up).  Make a card for a neighbour, teacher or volunteer and donate at the same time!
 THIS IS A PARENTED ACTIVITY.

Date - Wed, June 26
Time - 10 am - 3pm, start times on the hour
Cost - $10 for 2 cards and ALL dollars received will go to Alberta Floods Fund
administered by the Canadian Red Cross.

Please contact me at pkburns @shaw.ca or 403-201-1036 to register.

Cheers,
K

A weekend like none other

I'm sure most reading this have been affected or know of someone who has been impacted with what has happened this past weekend in Alberta.  We are one of the lucky ones that has a dry community, warm house and no power outages.
My thoughts are with those that have not been so lucky.

To donate to the Canadian Red Cross please call 1-800-418-1111 or go online to www.redcross.ca.

TAG IT Swap #2

It's Friday already!  Holy smokes this week went quickly!  Maybe I wont' be saying that so much when the kids are home all day everyday :)  Honestly though I quite like it when they are home so I can't wait!

Here is my second swap for the Tag it set.  I am loving the new Deco Labels framelits.  They size and shape is perfect for many focal images and sentiments.

Yup, I used markers to colour up this stamp.  A little time consuming but I only had to do 12.

Then when you flip this card open I have a spot where you can write an inside message.  Plus I added those new candy dots - LOVE THEM TO PIECES!!

Hope you have a fantastic weekend and that it is sunny for a bit this weekend!

Cheers,
K

Swap card time - TAG IT!

One thing great about rainy days is that it's a perfect time to STAMP!  I'm getting organized and ready for my annual trip to Salt Lake City and the Stampin Up Convention and that means swapping time!

I signed up for two swaps using the new TAG IT stamp set.  Tag it is this year's Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set.   I hope to gather tons of ideas to have another RMHC card class where you can create and donate cards to a fantastic cause.

With each stamp set purchased, Stampin UP will donate $3 to RMHC. 130300 (w) 27.95 or 130303(c) 20.95

Here is my first swap card.  I like how it turned out in the end but you should have seen the process!  It was a bit chaotic and messy to begin with!

Check back tomorrow to see the second swap card I made.

K

The Perfect Blend and a perfect card!

Happy Monday!

Hope you had a nice weekend and a fun Father's Day.  Ours was pretty low key and included some Harry Potter (we are re-watching the movies again as the kids are re-reading the books), some family time and just general laziness.  It is SOOOO good to have that once and a while.

Here is a simple card I created with some of my new stamps.  I have been busy doing "other" stuff that I'll share later but know I am being a busy stamping beaver even if you don't "see" me online.

Stamps - Perfect Blend, Chalk Talk, My Paper Pumpkin stamp (spots)
Inks - Black Staz-on, Early Espresso
Paper - Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Accessories - Stitched Grosgrain, Heart punch, 3/4" circle, 7/8" scallop circle, Chalk Talk framelits, Extra large oval, Edgelits

 Thanks for checking in!

I love this cute little hostess set!  Probably one of my favourite in a while.

Here is a quick simple card that shows many of the great patterns in the Quatrefancy Designer Series Paper and that gorgeous Washi tape!  I have sent my niece (who is living in Japan for a year) on a mission to find me some more cool Washi tape overseas.

And Stampin Up is WAAAAY on trend.  Check out this ad.  Black and white like the new paper Modern Medley and those mosaics look veeerrryy familiar!!

 Thanks for checking in :)

Colour Refresh

This past weekend several members of my downline came over to create Colour Charts for the new Refreshed Colour Collections.   I always love it when they come over since we have some good laughs and we're stamping of course.

I love looking at these sheets as you can really see how all the colours "go together now".  While change can be hard sometimes I LOVE it - bring it on I say!

I see Rose Red in a whole new light now that it's combined with some of those rich colours in the Regals Collection.  And how can you not be just overjoyed that colours like Island Indigo and Pool Party are here to stay!

Thanks for checking in and I hope you have a colourful day!

Cheers,
K

A family who stamps together . . .

is MY FAMILY!  Okay, we may not all stamp but they definitely work hard in my stamping business.

You would NOT believe the amount of work Pete, Andrew and Nathan (and my sister Stephanie) did this past weekend.  If you attended the garage sale you know that they were put to their paces!!  Plus a HUGE thanks to Deborah and Danielle who helped with questions, baskets and organizing everything!!  THANK YOU!!!

Also thanks for your patience as you waited in line to pay for your new goodies and I hope you are happy with your purchases.

Here are some photos of organizing the stamps the night before.

And the loads of goodies I had to sell!  Over 400 items of my own stuff!  Many of you know I had 5 boxes of stamps to sell and now I'm down to 2 - Woo hoo!!!!  Pete is happy too!  That's what counts isn't it!

Congrats to Brenda L for winning the door prize of a $25 gift certificate towards new products!

And tomorrow I can get somewhat back to normal and stamp!

PS Last chance to sign up and join My Paper Pumpkin in July so check it out here!

Cheers,
K
