One more Halloween post

I took these pics before I sent them off to school on Friday.

I made these Candy Wrapper die Halloween treats for all of Nathan's class - only 24.  Yep, I'm crazy.  I was die cutting them at 10 pm at, folding them in the car while the kids were at piano, and Nath and I were stuffing them a Thursday night.  The things we do for our children.

I do love how they turned out though.

Cheers,
K

Hope you have a wonderful night tonight with your trick or treaters!

Here are A and N all decked out as their favourite characters!!! I had planned to make the costumes but both kids opted for the bought version and honestly I didn't have time!   I did have to create something so I made their Halloween bags - Bobomb and the Invincible Star.

My go to Christmas set . . .

I think I have to stop using Serene Snowflake.  It may be permanently joined to my stamping hand. Whenever I go to create a new card I seem to reach for this set first.  The snowflake in Winter Post is a close second but this set has 4 different images, different sizes and they are sooo lovely!

Here is a card I created for my Stamper's 10 group.  These ladies have been with me since my first workshop and I thought they would love to learn how to make these ribbon flowers.  They work great on a scrapbook page or card and you can make them as detailed or as simple as you like. Just in case you think you are seeing double, I CASED my own card from a previous card buffet and turned it into a Christmas one.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Makers Club

Last night was our second Cardmaker's evening and we had fun Rockin' and Rollin'.  I planned three projects that focused completely on that one technique.  I don't normally do all three projects in the same technique but once I got started I couldn't stop.  I love the Dynamic Duo combos they have in the Colour Coach and couldn't just pick one!

Hope you like! Thanks for stoppin by.

Photo Tutorial - How to add a border to the Decorative Label punch

This is my first stab at a photo tutorial so please bear with me as I took the photos at night so sorry for the shadows.

I can't find where I found this idea originally but thanks to the creator of this fantastic idea!!  Let me know if it was you so I can give you full credit!!

Cut two Decorative Label punches in the same colour to mount your image.

Cut one horizontally and one vertically. Trim the edges as shown in the photo.

Glue side pieces to the back of the stamped image.
Continue with the top pieces.  This is shown in Cherry Cobbler so you can see where they overlap.

The finished product!  Now you can mat your  decorative label image with just one punch.

Hope you found this helpful!

K

Another scrapbook page!

Here is Jacqui's version of my birthday page.

I love the new die she used for the title and notice how she added the "flame" for the dot above the "i".  I'm inspired to work on Andrew and Nathan's birthday album when I see how easy it is to create pages with the Quick Accents.

Have a great Monday!

Friday night Scrapbooking

There is NO better way than to spend an evening scrapbooking with friends!

We had our second sb'n club meeting on Friday.  Here is a peek at our fun and crazy night!  NOTE the messy tables!  That must mean creative juices were flowing.  Two of our members were missing in action this month but we are looking forward to a full house in November where we will be creating a Christmas page complete with heat embossing, diecutting, punching, stamping and more!

Michele made this fantastic page with the Playdate paper and Accents.  I LOVE the orange and green combo and it goes perfectly with the colours in her photos.

Tomorrow I'll post a birthday page from our club!

Have a great Sunday!

It's all about the BLING!

This one is for my friend, Dawn!  The Queen of BLING!

I love this colour combo and came across it by accident.  How you ask? When I had to re-order these three colours of cardstock they came in the box in this order - Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Old Olive.  Voila!

I have decided that this stamp set, Serene Snowflake, is my fave snowflake set I own and the sentiment is from Snow Swirled.  Curious how I added a border to the Decorative Label punch?  I'll post a photo tutorial of how to do it in the upcoming days.

How appropriate it's supposed to snow in the next few days here in Calgary.

I'm sooo excited!

Confession first - I started this project at 8 pm Thursday night and it's now 11pm. For all those of you that are wondering - no, I don't sleep.  At least not much :)  You can ask Pete.

In the next two weeks I'll be attending two craft/home based fairs and I wanted to make something festive to decorate my table.  I found this tree at a "Big Box" craft store (ha ha) and I love the way it has a solid base so it won't tip over. I had this brainstorm of an idea to make "stamp ornaments".  Pete was VERY co-operative when I requested he drill small holes in each of the stamps so I could hang them and then he did the ink pads too!  It still needed something so out came the cardstock, inks and stamps (at 9:30pm) and I created some mini cards for the tree and added all different ribbons to finish it off.

I'm so excited how it turned out and hope you can all come and see me at the upcoming fairs. I'll post the details of the events soon.

Cheers,
K

Let it Snow Banner

Many of you may have already seen this project in real life but it is the first time I am posting a picture of it - shhh, it's a secret.

It is was a secret because I have entered this in a Stampin UP! Contest.  They have monthly contests posted in our Stampin' Success magazine and I have actually won two of them.  Really truly - not kidding.  I haven't entered one for a while but when the theme title "Flurries of Fun" was announced I couldn't resist.   I had the perfect entry ready to go.  Now that my banner is on it's way to Salt Lake City I can now share with you what can create at my class on the 10th of November.

I have two times 10-12 during the day and 7-9 in the evening and there are spaces at both times.
Cost - $15 all supplies included. I will provide Tombow Mulitpurpose Adhesive, but if you prefer another adhesive please bring your own.

Don't miss out on this super fun project.  Great for a handmade gift for the teacher, aunt or other hard to buy for person on your list.
Cheers,

K

Stamps - Welcome Christmas, Word Play
Inks - Old Olive, Versamark, Cherry Cobbler marker
Paper - Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Jolly Holiday DSP
Accessories - Scallop Ribbon border punch, corner rounder, 1/4" Whisper White grosgrain

Re-entry!

Greetings from a very tired cookie :)

I just got back from a weekend away scrapbooking with friends.  So I'm just going to show you a quick pic of my girlfriends and our new friend (or at least the back side of our new friend).

It was a wonderful weekend of great food, good crafting and good times!  It was also great to meet new friends -  Donna, Tracy and Suzanne.  Thanks for fun weekend!  I highly recommend it!

Big Shot projects for October

I finished prepping for my next Big Shot class and realized I forgot to post the samples for our upcoming class.  I wanted to show my new Big Shot club members how to use some of the great dies and accessories that are in their "kit".  The Daisy die card is a quick and easy 4x4 card.  It uses the Perfect Polka dots embossing folder and I lightly sponged the Daisy pieces to highlight the petals.

The Scallop Dress was a popular card at my card buffets and it is sooo easy. I textured the dress with the Texturz Perfect Details Plate.  It gives a soft subtle texture to your paper unlike the embossing folders.  I also added the Cottage Wall stamp set on Poppy Parade ink in tone on tone.  Simple but elegant for an invite or birthday card.

The Mini Milk Carton die is just a little add-on as I just can't resist getting my club members to fold something each time.  Promise - this one is easier than the Candy Wrapper die.

K

Card Buffet close up

Here is another card and I can't remember where I got the inspiration from.  Sorry but please email me if this is your card.

I love the snowflakes from the Level one hostess set - Northern Hearts, but you could you ANY snowflake for the stamping.  The snowflake accent is from the Big Shot die Northern Frost.  I love the way the snowflakes are so intricate and delicate.

Hmm, with all these snowy cards you'd think I wanted it to snow! Not a chance!

ACK My Christmas card!

I can't believe it but I have yet to design my Christmas card. I make and send about 80 Christmas cards.  I know I'm insane, but once you start people start looking forward to your card every year.

True story - Last year I didn't have time to make Christmas cards with our trip to Disney World and this crazy Stampin Up job of mine so I made a conscious decision NOT to send Christmas cards.  I thought I'd do a New Year's one instead (I just tried to look for it to show you and nope, I don't have one).  Well, little did I realize that because I didn't send a Christmas card many people thought I'd axed them from my list.  My sister in law, Lynn, said that her mom was really sad when my card didn't arrive.  When I heard that my heart got all sad and now I AM GOING TO MAKE CHRISTMAS CARDS THIS YEAR AND EVERY YEAR!!!

So here are some preliminary designs.  I don't like making 80 of the same card - I get bored easily so I'll probably do  3-4 designs and make a bunch of each.  Let me know what you think.

Cheers,
K

Northern Hearts level one hostess set with Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and Marina Mist.  This card design mimics one from my September card buffet.

Oh Dasher the ol' stand by.  Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and Brushed Gold paper accent this wonderful stamp!  This is all embossed in gold embossing powder mixed with gold Galaxy glitter.  I love the bling!

I'm so excited!

Not only was Tuesday fantastic because of the book-a-thon my business cards arrived.

I designed these with My Digital Studio and it was easy.  Okay, not completely easy as that Owl punch is much more difficult to put together digitally than it is with actual paper, but I LOVE the way it turned out.

I have the Holiday Mini, my business card and those Owl bookmarks all ready for the Copperfield Small Home Based Business and Craft Fair on November 6th.  Come and find me at the Community Center!

I found this card or something similar on many blogs so I tried to re-create it as best I could.  Sorry I can't find the website again to add a link so if this is your card idea please email me so I can give credit where credit is due.  This is a sneak peek at an upcoming class in the new year.  I know it's a really EARLY sneak peek but I just couldn't resist. I haven't worked out any details of the class other than it will be completely awesome and full of OWLS!  The samples are made, but I just have to find a couple of free nights in the new year where we can make 10 cards that all have the fabulous Owl punch.

K

Some quick family shots

This past weekend I took some time off from "work" to spend some time with my family.

Here are a few pics from our trip to Banff.  I CAN NOT believe that we have never stayed there in all of our years living in Calgary.  The scenery was unbelievable, the weather was great (I know hard to believe) and spending time together at the Fudgery, Tony Roma's and at the Hot Springs was priceless.  I can't wait for our next trip.
This was taken just below the Banff Springs Hotel.  We'll stay there next time!

We rode the Gondola on Fri afternoon, I didn't LOVE the heights but the view was amazing once we got up there.

Our mini hike in Johnston's Canyon. Thanks Pete for picking an easy hike for my first one.

The Upper Falls.  Breathtaking.  Maybe next time I'll be brave and we'll go to the Ink Pots.

K

3 lessons I have learned.

1) Phones aren't that scary.
2) When given a choice between 1 or 2, most people pick 2.
3) I have the best customers friends in the world!

THANK YOU to everyone that read my email, answered the phone, or called me back!  I was able to book ELEVEN workshops!  That is completely amazing!  AND all the demonstrators that participated in the challenge booked 5000 workshops!   Woo Hoo!  I earned a free stamp set from the Occasions mini and all my new hostesses now have their choice of rhinestones or pearls as their gift from me when they host their workshop.  16 people said the codeword when I phoned and received a mini stamp or an embellishment baggie.  Congrats to everyone!

Stampin UP! has been such an amazing company to work for.  The discount and small perks like free rubber are just the tip of the iceberg!  There are just a handful of days to take advantage of the free TOTE offer to all new demos.  I have a mini goal to get one recruit by the end of October and the time is going fast.  Email me ASAP if you are interested in starting your own business, getting some great products at a discount or would like to meet some new friends that enjoy this great hobby.  I say Stampin' friends are the greatest!!!

Cheers,
K

Don't forget the Codeword!

Today is Book-a-thon day! I have my list ready, phone charged and calendar all set to start booking Christmas and Sale A Bration workshops.

Stampin UP has challenged all demonstrators to book a combined total of 5000 workshop in one day!  A big job but I'm going to try to do my part.
Everyone that books a workshop with me TODAY will be put into a draw for the stamp set Friends Never Fade (value 21.95).  Like I said who doesn’t love free rubber! Not only can you have a great night crafting with friends you could earn free hostess sets and hostess dollars to spend as you wish.

When I call you to gather some friends for a fun night of stamping all you have to do is give me the code word. I would love to have you book something with me, but even if you don’t, just give me the codeword and you win. Super easy - FREE stuff is always fun! All these goodies are ready to go!  The codeword is PINK in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

If you book a workshop/class with me on the 12th, you will receive your choice of either Basic Rhinestones or Pearls (reg value 6.50) at your workshop/class date.  If you are busy or working on the 12th then just email me or leave a comment on my blog saying PHONE ME and I’ll phone you first!!! I am going to be working diligently to phone as many of you as I can but if I don't get a hold of you by 7pm please call me with the code word.

Check your calendars for a date to book a workshop or class.  Starting Oct 19th - Dec 16th there are some amazing Holiday Mini bundles that Stampin UP has created for the holidays.  A Vintage Christmas bundle (Bells and Boughs set and Deck the Halls paper), Tags til Christmas Bundle with the Decorative label punch and several others all at 20% off.

Can’t find a date in the fall? I am booking Sale-A-Bration workshops between January 25 - March 31!  Sale-A-Bration is a fantastic time to host a workshop as both hostesses and attendees benefit with free goodies.

Don't forget--think PINK , and have a date in mind for when I call you!!

Cheers,
K
