Something new

Today was a whirlwind day but a SUPER exciting one!  Congrats to all my new team members that joined yesterday and are totally excited about receiving all that stampin' goodness for just $107.50 - and no shipping or tax.  It doesn't get better than that.  It's not too late if you too want to join in the fun.  Click on here and get started.  My password is I CAN STAMP.

Now on to something new.

I had a tough time today creating something new (it's been a while) but I created 3 projects with the same colour combo.  It is a very out of the ordinary Christmas colour combo but what fun to venture away from the traditional.

Check out that pillow box die - isn't it cute. The colours used here are Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and Pear Pizazz.  I also LOVE the Broadsheet Alpha set.  This set was on my HAD to buy right away list when the catalogue first came out in July and sadly it is the first time it has seen ink.

Thanks for stopping by.

I survived November!

I wonder if I can get a t-shirt that says  - I SURVIVED NOVEMBER!!!!

I had 21 events planned in Nov and even though the month hasn't ended yet I don't have anything planned for the last two days so I'm officially done!  I SURVIVED!  I'm not quite sure what I was thinking when I planned all that way back when but obviously I wasn't!  (And if you see my January calendar, apparently I wasn't thinking then either.)

So on to today's post.

This weekend was a fantastic card buffet.  Thank you to all the ladies that attended.  I had many requests for the Toffee Dip for the apples. Thanks to Robyn for sharing this recipe with me sooooo long ago. It's a keeper.

1 pkg cream cheese
3/4 c brown sugar
1/2 c icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Skor Bits
Granny Smith apples
Pineapple juice on top of the apples to prevent them from browning

I promise I'll get back to stamping new things but for the time being I drew the winner for my Let it Snow banner.  Congrats to Rachel B!  Woo hoo!  I hope I didn't jinx it by making it snow tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by and remember only 2 days left of the Online Spectacular and the Simply Amazing Recruiting special.

My Digital Studio.net

WOWZA!

That is what I said when I finally found this.  Several weeks ago Stampin Up announced they had created a new website focussed on all things related to My Digital Studio. Little did I realize that it was completely and totally awesome!

Before I had only 1 or 2 customers that owned or were even interested in My Digital Studio but with this Online Spectacular sale MDS is now at 50% off or $53.48 and it is way too fabulous to pass up.

Go check out mydigitalstudio.net  and see hundreds of fabulous projects, videos and more created by very talented demonstrators and customers.  Now I can honestly say I have barely scratched the surface when it comes to MDS.  It is truly amazing what this program can do.

SALE ENDS NOV 30th.  Contact me to order or shop online at home from your jammies :)

Designer Series paper or contrasting cardstock - 2 3/4 x 4

Products used in the sample but you could use absolutely ANYTHING on these.

Fabric is 50% off!!!!

Here's another sneak peek at a card for this weekend's card buffet. This one uses our cute Deck the Halls fabric instead of a ribbon.  Super easy to do.  Just fray the edges of a thin strip of fabric. Use the sticky strip across the card and then "ruffle" the ribbon back and forth across the sticky strip.  I hope that makes sense as I can't quite think of the correct words.  The best part is the fabric is 50% off.  THREE HUGE FAT QUARTERS for just $6.25. Choose from Deck the Halls or Candy Cane patterns.
Deck the Halls

Candy Cane

The sentiment is from last year's Level Two hostess set called Christmas Punch.  I love how easy the poinsettias are to create with the 5-Petal flower punch, some brads and the Gold Glow Smooch Spritz.

Thanks for stopping by.

Quick post

I just noticed on my blog that I have reached 100 posts - Wow~  that was quick!  I guess that's what happens when you post every day (or at least I try to).

I was actually going to skip tomorrow but when I saw that I just couldn't.

I am volunteering for Nathan's school Christmas Craft fair and I have created a cute project to create with the kids.  I received a cute 3D swap at Convention this summer and when I found these 1 x 8 clear bags at an online store here
I just had to use them to create a fun and yummy project for the kids.  While I used the new Candy Wrapper die to create the Halloween projects I can definitely see myself using this idea for Valentine treats. Maybe with jelly beans, pink and red Smarties . . .  Ooo the possibilities are endless.

I am still taking comments for my Let it Snow banner.  Go to the "Ugh its still snowing post" and post a comment and you could win the Let it Snow banner.

I'm REALLY excited as it looks like we'll get to single digit minus temps tomorrow.  It's really weird what we get excited about when you live in Calgary.  It's going to be balmy :)

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

K

It's a brrrrrrrr cold day!

Today the kids and I took a Brrrrrr it's too cold day!  I can't call it a snow day since it wasn't really snowing but when I woke up to "It's - 31 and -40 with the wind chill." I thought to myself - What am I doing taking the kids to school!!!!  So I didn't.

Instead I let them sleep until 8 am and we usually get up at 6:45.  I can't quite believe they slept that long but boy were they happy when they woke up!

We did language arts - Andrew had a few things to finish on the computer, Nathan did as well.  Of course they read a ton of books today too.

We had math - I baked a cake and they each iced 1/2 of it.  Fractions, that's math.

We had music - They each played their piano pieces.

We had gym - Played 3 on 3 basketball on the Wii.  Creative indoor gym, can't go outside it's -30 C.

We had arts and crafts - Made some pony bead animals with string and beads we found.

We had a Living Skills class - Nathan cleaned the craft drawer and Andrew unloaded the dish washer.

Oh and we had Home Ec too  - We made homemade pizzas for dinner.

All in all a great day.  Now I'm refreshed and ready for that drive in tomorrow.  Ugh.

Thanks for stopping by.  Can you tell I didn't get any stamping done today.  I was busy with home schooling the kids :)

K

An appropriate card for today

No, I do not want it to snow but it continues to do so here in Calgary :(

On to my card and happier things. You can probably tell from following my blog that I like clean and simple. I like a tidy look, crisp corners and straight lines.  I try to go outside the box but something keeps dragging me back to the known.

Here's the recipe.
Stamps - Big on Christmas
Inks - Black Staz on
Markers - Marina Mist, Basic Gray, Real Red, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie
Paper - Whisper White, Real Red, Marina Mist, Old Olive
Accessories - Cutter Kit, Texture plates, Glitter brads (Wowee - so blingy), Northern Frost die, Dazzling Diamonds and Crystal Effects.

The icicles make this a WOW card in my book.  Check out this link to see the tutorial video to create this effect.

Cheers,
K

PS Yes that is real snow on the ground.  I just opened the door, stuck my card outside and snapped a picture.  Actually go outside - are you crazy?!?!?!?

Opportunity Afternoon

Don't forget about my Opportunity afternoon today from 1-3pm.  Please contact me if you are able to stop by.  I can show you what is included in the Simply Amazing Recruiting Special, show you My Digital Studio and the great perks of digital paper crafting AND answer any questions you may have.  Not able to make it today, then call/email me and we can arrange another time that works.

Please check back later today as the card I'm working on is currently drying and I can glue the pieces together yet.  Makes you curious doesn't it . . .

Cheers,
K

Another sneak peek

I don't think you can see the sparkly details on the front of this card but I combined silver embossing powder and silver fine galaxy glitter to embossed a silver tinsel ornament.  I did the same with the gold.  The branch is the single pine tree from the set Lovely as a Tree.  Super easy!

K

Nov Card Buffet sneak peek

I'm going to confess.  I must be on an anti-stamping campaign because I don't think I have stamped anything new in a week!  Okay, maybe a week is exaggerating but it feels like forever since I have had a chance to sit and play with my stamps.  Maybe this weekend . . . (sigh)

So for my post today I'm going to post a card from my upcoming November Christmas buffet. This one has been a favourite of a few customers.

Stamps - Winter Post
Inks - Not Quite Navy, Chocolate Chip, Versamark
Paper - Not Quite Navy, Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Accessories - Hemp twine, Large tag punch, Designer Label punch, clear embossing powder and a heat tool

 Thanks for stopping by.

Ugh, it's still snowing

Okay, seriously it's time for this to stop.  Two straight days of OVER an hour and 15 minute commutes to get the kids to school is RIDICULOUS!!!!

Enough of my whining.  I guess it could be worse - I could be dropping them off and then heading to work!

I will try to get a picture of our wonderful snow here tomorrow morning to post for all you readers that aren't experiencing this lovely Calgary weather.  If you are in Calgary post me a whiny comments about the snow then I won't feel quite so alone. If you aren't in Calgary leave me a comment about your wonderful weather and rub it in :)

I have a Let it Snow banner for one lucky winner that posts a comment on this post. (I'll leave this blog candy open for a week or so.)

Okay, I just went outside in my t-shirt to take this.  I'm nuts - -16 is brrr cold.

Thanks for stopping by.

K

I have joined Twitter and Facebook - CRAZY!

It's ground breaking! At least for me it is! Today my friend, Erin, came to help me enter in the 21st century!

I am learning what it is like to have friends, to tweet, retweet and liking too. Who knew?? I can hear you all laughing at me :)

So slowly over the next few days I'll figure things out and work my tweets, posts to my blog and Facebook whatchamacallits (not sure what you call them) into my days. Who needs sleep!

I have gathered up my list of people who commented or joined me as a follower and chosen a winner for these Christmas cards.

(drum roll . . . . .)  The winner is Tracy G.   Congrats Tracy!!!

Keep checking back as I will have the details and info on my Owl class coming up.

Christmas scrapbooking page

Here is the scrapbook page we will be creating this Friday.  The page on the right can fit 4 equal sized photos or like a collage shown on this layout.

This page includes a variety of techniques faux metal on the silver ornament, chipboard embossing and lots of Big Shot die cutting with the Tasteful Trims die.  This die is so useful on scrapbook pages as each trim is 12" long!  My fave is the zig zag!

Thanks for stopping by!

November Big Shot club projects

This week is another jammed pack week of workshops, clubs and Kids camp!  It's half way through November and I'm still standing :) Woo hoo!

I don't think I have shown you a sneak peek at our Nov Big Shot Club stuff so I thought it would be the perfect post for today since my Big Shot club is THIS WEEK!

We will be making some Christmas treat holders, tags and an ornament to get ready for the holidays. These projects use the Fancy Favour die and the Two Tags die.  I have to thank Lisa for the inspiration for the Fancy Favour projects.  Check out her blog here.

Cheers,
K

** Today is the first day of the Simply Amazing recruiting special.  Contact me for more details on signing up and getting this great kit for a fantastic price!

Both of these projects use Crumb Cake paper (yummy) and Deck the Halls Designer Series paper.

These two projects are made from the Two Tags die - Love it!!

All Day Christmas Cheer!

First off I forgot to take photos of my All Day Christmas Cheer class during or before lunch so pardon the 1/2 eaten sandwich :)

Here are the rub on treat bags I made for everyone.
Here are the nicely wrapped gift boxes - one for everyone. I chose a name and that person was able to choose one box. When the second name was chosen they were able to "steal" the box from the first person or choose a new box. We continued through all 6 guests and everyone went home with a stamp set, cards, embellishment or other treat.

Here are some snapshots of the food I prepared.

Sunshine and Banana Muffins

Fruit and Dip

Wrap sandwiches and Cream Cheese and Feta appy wraps

Chocolate Peppermint Striped Delight - from the Kraft recipe book

Skor Bars
Here is the recipe in case you need a quick sugar fix!

SKOR BARS ** Warning highly addictive!

1 c butter
1/2 c brown sugar
Salted Premium Plus crackers
1 pkg butterscotch chips
1 pkg milk chocolate chips
Parchment paper
Large cookie sheet with sides

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the 2 bags of chips in a bowl and set aside. Fill parchment lined cookie sheet with crackers (salt side up). Melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan and bring to boil for one minute. Spread butter mixture over the crackers and let stand in the pan for 5 min. Bake for 8-10 min and watch for burning. Remove from oven and sprinkle chips immediately over the crackers. Let stand until the chips are shiny and melted. Use a spatula and smooth chips out. Place in the fridge until it has slightly hardened and then cut into squares. Return to the fridge until it has hardened completely and break into squares. Keep refrigerated.

Hope you have a great day! Thanks for stopping by.

K

A great opportunity night!

Last night I held my first opportunity night to kick off this fantastic recruiting special.  If you are interested or would like to learn more about My Digital Studio give me a call and come by on Sunday from 12-3.

We made this card with the For All You Do stamp set, a bit of ribbon and voila!  All the supplies on this card can be found in the Standard Starter kit.  A great card to kick off your first workshop as a brand new Stampin Up demonstrator.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.  I have a ton to get ready for my All Day Christmas Cheer class.  I'll take some pics of our yummy lunch, prize giveaways and all our great creations!

No new car :(

Greetings everyone,

Well, yesterday I wished for a new car but no one stopped by with one.  I'm not super surprised by that though:) I'll still keep wishing though.

Today was an incredibly busy day with all the excitement of a Simply Amazing recruit special.  Check out this post .   I can't still quite believe it but you can sign up to become a demonstrator for just 107.50!  Unbelievable!!!

I am inviting you to my Opportunity Night tonight from 7-9 Friday evening or on Sunday from 12-3.  Come try out My Digital Studio (the Digital scrapbooking program), see what is included in the digital or standard kit and ask me all your questions about becoming a demonstrator.

Stamps - Circle Circus and Word Play  Inks - Rose Red, Marina Mist and Perfect Plum
I created this card today inspired by the opportunity Stampin Up has presented to everyone reading this.  I could not have imagined that joining in 2007 would have allowed me to meet SO many wonderful ladies who have become great friends, opened the door for me to work at home and "play with paper all day" and even earn a trip to Alaska!  Seriously I do have the best job in the world!

Thanks for stopping by and please contact me if you'd like to join me at my opportunity night or afternoon.

K

My Creative kids!

I just had to share with you the creativity of my kids at Stamp Camp this weekend.  I think you can figure out what their favourite punch was.  Unfortunately I found this in the US (not through SU) when we were in Spokane this summer.  Next time if I see this punch I'll have to buy multiples.

Thanks for stopping by.

Non-Christmas

Another non Christmas post :)

I'm on a roll.  I made a variety of cards in a variety of colours with the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set.  I love the mini cupcakes on the pedestal.  Makes me crave a Crave cupcake. Hmmm, I should go there . . .

Thanks for stopping by.

A break from Christmas

I think I hit the wall on my Christmas card frenzy. Well, at least I took a little break from Christmas.

Several people I know are having babies, planning for babies or have had babies in the past little while so I thought I'd dig out my Fox and Friends set and make some baby cards.

They all use a combo of colours from the Subtle Collection and I just changed the punch on the sentiment on two of them.  I whipped these up pretty quick.  Wouldn't they make a nice Congrats card, Shower invite or Thank you card set.

Just to squash any rumors - NO BABIES HERE!

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers,
K

Happy Daylight Savings day!

I hope you all enjoyed that extra hour of sleep - I know I did!

Yesterday's craft fair was an interesting experience.  While it wasn't a "barn buster" it was fun and I learned a few tips that I will take to my next craft fair.  I met a few new papercrafter's that live right here in Copperfield and neighbouring communities so I hope to see some of you soon at a class or workshop.

It was nice to see some familiar faces (Hi Shelley, Angela and Patti), thanks for stopping by.

I just had to share the "snow" I added to my house.  Thanks Nicole and Allison for the comments about MORE SNOW!  I know I'll be regretting my choice on Monday if it snows for real.  I saw this post on Jenn Picard's blog and it reminded me of this technique for making icicles.  I have tried it before but it's been a while.  Note:  Use lots of Crystal Effects in a nice thick layer.  If you use a thin layer it is much harder to get it off the wax paper.

Just Dazzling Diamonds and a 2 Way glue pen.
Hope you have a great Sunday :)

Cheers,
K

PS Make sure you check your clocks - Remember to FALL back!

Saturday, November 6, 2010

Come visit me at the Craft Fair!

Tomorrow I'm busy at the Copperfield Small Business and Craft Fair or at least I hope I will be busy :)  Stop by and see me and the other vendors at the fair.

Here are the inside pages of the waterfall and flip flop books I have for sale at the show today.  Ready made books are $25 and kits (do it yourself) are $20.

Think grandparents gifts. Add photos and DONE!

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers,
K
