Clean and Simple

Morning

I'm soo excited because today I get to STAY HOME and work!  I ended up doing some errands and more Christmas shopping on Wed so I could stay home on Thursday.  I told Pete it is MUCH cheaper if I do.  I ended up buying myself a present too but I'll tell you about that later.

I have some cute, quick and simple cards I had planned for a class but then life got in the way and I ran out of available dates.  So here I share them with you on my blog.  I think we'll make a few of these for kids camp this weekend but we'll see what else I can create today.

I love the clean and simple look on this card.  So cute!!!  Merry Mini punch pack is too cute and available after January 2nd

An oldie but a goodie.  Tag til Christmas for this ornament but there are many more in Delightful Decorations.

Pennant Parade.  Lots of cute things things can be created with this pennant stamp and punch
 Thanks for checking in!

K

PS Sorry I forgot to hit publish which is why this post is late this morning :)

Just a snippet of life

I can't believe it's already Wednesday!!!!  Sorry for the lack of posts the last two days but I can say I haven't really done anything to blog about.  Just the usual boring house stuff and that's it.  Not to interesting to read.

So instead I'm going to share with you something Nathan is REALLY proud of.

On Saturday morning he woke up and was bored (nothing new).  But instead of turning on the TV or reading we started chatting and somehow we got talking about knitting and sewing.  The next thing I knew I was teaching him to knit at 9 AM!

I showed him how to cast on and the basic knit stitch.  All weekend he could be found in his bed, covers up to his elbows and knitting away.  He is planning to make this a scarf for his stuffed Monkey but he has a bit to go.

It's a pretty cool thing to see your kid doing something so completely out of the ordinary.  Andrew is starting the "fashion" part of his foods and fashion unit at school. Maybe in a month or so I'll be sharing with you his next sewing project.

To wrap up his foods unit he made supper a few times this week - Fried Rice, Hoisin Chicken, and even Ginger Beef.  Yes he had help but he was completely eager and a great chef.  I'll share pics with you another day.

Thanks for stopping by even if I didn't have any card creativity to share.  There is always tomorrow :)

Cheers,
K

Day til Christmas Countdown Calendars

Just a quick post today, sorry.

I made 7 original Countdown calendars for the craft fair last week and I have 2 left.  CAN YOU BELIEVE I forgot to take photos of them??  Luckily on Sunday I remembered and took a photo of my cutey pie owl, but I do have two left that are equally as cute.  If you are interested they are for sale :)

Each come with a hanger and piece of chalk for the kids (or you) to write how many sleeps til the big day.

Here is my cutey owl that went to a good home.  Andrew told me he looked a little sick, but I think he just looks sleepy (or a little tipsy).

Have a great weekend and enjoy!

K

Christmas recipes

Here is another card made with the Scentsational Season stamp set.  This one was for club.

I absolutely LOVE the Snow Festival Designer Series Paper which is going to be gone by the end of December so don't forget to get yours before it's too late.

I had a busy Wednesday of baking.  Last night was my WOW Wednesday class so I baked some Christmas treats to go along with our Christmas cards.   Here they are and the recipes.

 Peppermint Cups

1 c butter
1 c white sugar
1 c brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3/4 c cocoa

2 1/4 c flour
1 tsp baking soda

2 and a bit bags of mini Peppermint Cups -  I use the President's Choice ones. I would count how many cups in two bags and make sure you make enough cookie balls for that number of cups.

Preheat oven to 375 F.  Cream butter and sugars,  Beat in eggs and vanilla.  Mix in cocoa, flour and baking soda.  Shape into 1" balls and place into mini muffin tins.  Bake 9-11 min.  Immediately from oven press a peppermint cup into each.  Cool completely and remove from the pan. I also put crushed candy canes on top too when the chocolate is warm.

One recipe made just over 60 cookies.

Shortbread

1lb butter, really softened

1 1/2 c icing sugar

4-5 c flour

Cream icing and butter.  Add flour until desired consistency. Bake 300 degrees for 25 min.

Peanut Butter Butterscotch Marshmallow thingys (??)

I'm not sure what these are really called I just know the kids love em.

1/4 c butter/margarine
1/2 c peanut butter
1 pkg butterscotch chips
1 bag mini coloured marshmallows

Melt butter and peanut buttter over low heat.  Stir in chips until melted.   Cool mixture then mix in marshmallows until all coated.  Line a 9x9 pan (or small rectangular pan) with wax paper and pour the mixture into it.  Refrigerate.

Thanks for checking in.  Hopefully tomorrow I can stamp instead of bake :)

Cheers,
K

Hot chocolate pouch with Scentsational Season

Here is a pouch I had at my craft sale this past weekend as well as a project we did at club this month.

 Stamps - Scentsational Season
Paper - Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Be of Good Cheers Designer Series paper
Inks - Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green and a Chocolate Chip marker
Accessories - Holiday Collection framelits, 2 1/2" circle punch and the Northern Flurry embossing folder

** Measurements for the pouch - 5 1/2 x 8" and scored in half at 4".  Use the Diagonal Scoring plate and score on the 5 1/2 diagonal line

**  How did I get the two colours on the cup? Ink the mug with Gumball Green ink, use a blender pen to remove the ink for the "liquid" in the mug.  Use a marker and re-ink with Chocolate Chip.  Huff on the stamp to re-moisten and stamp on to Very Vanilla paper. Die cut with the framelit.

Thanks for shopping by.

Cheers,
K

Super great weekend!!! Craft fair treats - day 1

Happy Monday morning :)

If you read my blog regularily you know how much I love Mondays :)  Weekends are often crazy crazy for me so on Monday I can get back to my routine.

I actually had NOTHING planned for my weekend (strange, I know) so we had a BIG family day on Saturday with hockey, some shopping and a movie.  We went to see Wreck it Ralph and we LOVED it!  I highly recommend going if you can.  Gotta love Disney.

I guess I should get back to my creation for today which is probably why you stopped in :)  As promised each day this week I'll share with you some creations that will be for sale at the Lake Bonavista Craft Fair this weekend.

Reindeer Poop and some spare Rudolph noses - AKA Chocolate Raisins and Swedish Berries

And these were a hit last year - Green mints for those "Grinchy" people on your list.
