Today is . . .

not Monday? I lost a day. The kids had the day off school so I apparently took the day off too :)

My weekend was fabulous for a few of reasons 1) Scrapbooking on Saturday meant an entire crafting day and no cooking 2) Pete had the last 4 days off so I had help at home with laundry and cooking (and nursing Andrew) and 3) Andrew's surgery on Friday was great (with exception to the 2 hours after he got home and was starving and a bear) it has been great.  He looks like a little chipmunk but handling all the icing, pain meds and mouth rinsing like a pro.  Phew, glad the worst is over.

Now onto my wonderful scrapbook adventure on Saturday.  I went with my two friends Michele and Jackie to a crop in SE Calgary. It was a lot of work, I won't lie, but I got my scrapbooking mojo back!

This week I'll share some of my pages.  Here is a one page layout I made to go along with one from my club layouts.

Oh I wish I could go back!

This page was pretty easy to assemble with the Project Life Happiness Is cards. Go check out the many Project Life products on the clearance rack! I love how I can combine the cards with a traditional 12x12 scrapbook page.

Here is the layout from my scrapbook club from November 2015.

This was a trip I earned through Stampin UP last year and I took my sister. Pete just got a new job and couldn't take time off so it was a great girls trip!

San Diego - day 3

Morning :)

I'll share the last pics of our fantastic weekend in San Diego.  It's nice to be home but re-entry is always challenging :)

On Saturday we headed to the zoo! One word - HUGE!  I'm sure glad we spoke to the volunteer guides before we left the entrance because we were going to start by walking to the back of the zoo and work our way towards the front.  Didn't know it was over 100 acres!

So we jumped on the guided tour bus where it takes you around so you see about 70% of the zoo in 40 min and then you can go back and see some of the things you want to see in greater depth. Perfect!

I think we watched the polar bears for over 15 min.  They were awesome and something we don't have at the Calgary Zoo.  We tried to see many of the animals we don't have at home.

After a half day at the zoo we took a cab to Seaport Village and walked along the water - just breathtaking.

I love this statue and in behind is the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum.  You can imagine how big it is in real life!  See those people beside it!

In the evening we met up with a new demonstrator friend, Ange Mackay and her husband Sean.  We had a great dinner and laughed so much.   People watching in San Diego is a whole new adventure!  Great to meet someone in person that I have been cyber stalking for a while now :)  Go check out her blog as she does amazing work!

To finish the night of course pillow gifts :)

Thanks for stopping in and I'll be sure to share less vacation and more stamping projects the rest of the week!

San Diego day 2

What a fabulous day touring San Diego!

Pete and I slept in and headed to Old Town San Diego with scores of Stampin Up demos.

There are all these great little shops selling everything from ceramic house numbers to t-shirts, and hot sauces to jewelry.

My favourite store was this cool Root Beer store. Well it was more than just Root beer there but all kinds of pops from all over the US.

An entire wall of jerky - turkey, venison and even kangaroo??

A whole wall of Root beers

And a bunch of different kinds of sodas
Prickly Pear??  I know I heard about this one on a food network show!

Shirley Temple - I loved drinking these as a kid.

And one of my favourite ones - CHOCOLATE COVERED MAPLE BACON!  Ew but cool at the same time!

Then we went out to dinner at Dobsons.  Yummy food and our little splurge this trip.

This one is a little dark but this was taken before we left for dinner.

I tried their famous Mussel Bisque en Croute and it was yum.  So creamy and rich  - wow!

After a super filling dinner we wandered the Gaslamp Quarter and took in all the sights and sounds of San Diego.  This a great city to people watch for sure!!

I can't believe I can say this but I saw a dog driving a Porche. I don't have photographic evidence of this but it was true.  Pete saw it too.  Only in San Diego  . . .

A stop at this place completed the evening :)

Thanks for checking in.

Greetings from San Diego!

I am away this weekend in sunny San Diego and WOW is it beautiful here!  Thanks to my fabulous customers and wonderful downline I earned the Getaway vacation this year.

Pete and I arrived to fantastic weather and a beautiful hotel - the historic US Grant opened in 1910.

Today we spent the day touring Old Town San Diego with many other Stampin UP demonstrators.

Here are a few pics of our travels.

Unbelievably decorated!

At night

An absolutely gorgeous room

Love this above the bed

Relaxing after a long travel day
Can we take this shower home with us?
And of course what a way to finish off the day - Pillow gifts!!  I little big for the luggage but no worries.  The Stampin UP Team re-wrapped everyone's gift to ensure a safe ride home.
I wont share what we actually received in the box as I know some of you reading this may not have received yours yet.

We had an early dinner at The Yard House which had over 100 beers on tap - Pete's kind of place.

Buffalo wings

Crab cakes
And a spinach dip we forgot to take pics of.  A dinner of appies - only on vacation!!!

Thanks for checking in!

Hilton Head - Day 3

Hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend and are enjoying an extra day off.

Tonight is our big dinner and we're having just 10 in total so not too bad.

Here is another photo collage of our great trip to Hilton Head Island.

On Saturday after we slept in a bit (kayaking morning was a little early so Pete requested to have a sleep in morning) we had a fantastic breakfast buffet all provided by Stampin UP.

Decadent smoked salmon in the morning

Eggs, potatoes, sausage and bacon

Yogurt with everything you can imagine to top it off.

Fresh fruit
Assorted breads, bagels, pastries and muffins

PLUS an omelet station that had the most amazing chef behind those skillets.  She was great morning entertainment as she made 6+ omelets at once. Now that's talent!

Then we rented bikes and took off down the beach.  It was soo cool and serene biking on the sand.

See my cute Stampin UP flag!

Pete's bike didn't have one.  He wasn't protesting too much.  It was such a smooth ride.

Just one of the many peasant cottages along the beach - NOT!

These horseshoe crabs were everywhere along the beach   This one was just the shell.

Here is one trying to bury itself in the sand.
After we returned to the resort we hung out by the pool.  After a quick nap pool side, Pete and I shared a quick bite and then we went to find some tennis courts.

Ah, what a life!  This is our lounge chair and our view and proximity to the pool
There are something like 350 tennis courts on Hilton Head Island but we were going to search for some community courts instead of paying :)  We did find some but there was a wheelchair tournament so we headed back to our resort, paid the fee and played for an hour.  I didn't take pics of that you can picture us playing hard in the 35+ degree heat.  We had a great time and I won our little tie break match 2-1.

We met up with the Canadian contingent for a lovely dinner at the Carolina Cafe in the resort.  I can't believe I didn't get a pic of everyone at the table but it was Kim, Richard, Allison, her dad, Nolan, Anne, her daughter, Alison and Pete and I.  We had the best night ever with hilarious stories, lots of laughter and an awesome server from Ireland named Kate.  She was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our last night in Hilton Head.

One thing I did not forget to take a picture of was our meals.  I love how Pete knows to take a photo before he picks up his fork.

Cobb Salad - deelish

Sliders - 2 Buffalo chicken and one crab cake one so he continued the daily crab cake intake.

Plus for dessert I opted for the dessert buffet which honestly fed the table - strawberry and caramel tarts, petite fours, Snickers Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse tarts, Blueberry Cheesecake and Bread pudding that was on my second helping.
Then to end the night we played a best 2 out of 3 fooseball game (I lost 0-2 and got CREAMED) and headed to the room where we found. . .

PILLOW GIFT HAUL!!!!

Ok, I think Pete and I are a bit jaded as when we saw this haul our first thoughts are always  "How in the heck are we going to get that home?!?!?!"

Inside was paper, a stamp set, ribbons, buttons, twine and inks.  And we got to keep one of the flags!!!!
I hope this wasn't too long and boring (even though I know it was long).  But we had such a great day it was nice to share and re-live it a bit.

Have a great day!

Cheers,
K
