Kids Camp and Owls

I think I've been bitten by the Owl bug again because I can't stop thinking about cards that I can create with the Owl builder punch.  This month I decided to have a card maker's workshop at Kids camp this month and we made Owl cards. These were selection of the cutest cards from past Owl classes.

Then we made some spinner/slider cards.

Since these cards weren't for the faint of heart I did have one last one for them to try and that was a slider card that got them ooo'ing and ahh'ing. BUT this one was a challenge a they had to design an Easter card for me for my blog.

Here were the results.  And quite fantastic since I only gave them 15 min to create. Each pic shows the front and then what happens when you pull the top piece up, the bottom part slides down.

Club Create - Canvas Art

Yesterday I was reminded the creativity and amazing spirit of kids!

I planned to have the kids create a Canvas piece for their room or a gift.   I created this "Seasons" Canvas art piece to as a sample with the Sheltering Tree stamp set.

Often they will copy my idea or do some slight variations of my design, but this time they proved me wrong . . . way wrong.

Check out what they created!

Halloween Kids camp recap

This past weekend we had a super fun Kids camp!  Don't you just love it when all things go as planned.

First we made these adorable pumpkins for a center piece for their Thanksgiving dinners. I actually helped make 90 of these for a Stampin Up event and they were so cute I had to try them again with the kids. I believe the creator of this idea is Tamara Bertram.  Thanks for the idea Tamara!

Then my Club Create group made this beautiful door hanger.  One of my downline shared this idea she found on Pinterest and I thought it was beautiful.  Thank you to Carol Payne for the original idea.

And last but not least BOO bags!   Have you ever Boo'd anyone?  I remember doing this with the kids when they were little but not since.  So after we did the kids camp the boys each made 3 ghosts and a simple version of the bag of candy (aka ziploc bags) and boo'd a few on our street.  Can't wait to see who else will have a ghost in their window.

Here is the poem.

BOO
Halloween is in the air!
We boo’d your house,
but don’t be scared.

We like you a lot and think you’re neat,
So we left you this bag of Halloween treats.

Who could we be?
We never will tell.
That would break the BOO fun spell!

Happy Halloween!

I also added these instructions too.

Hang this ghost in your window to let neighbours know you have been “Boo’d”.  Copy this ghost poem and “Boo” 3 other friends.

Have a great day!

Cheers,
K

Hope you had a fantastic weekend!  We spent ours with the start of ball hockey season :) and Kids camp!  It was a fun time had by all the kids and I still have space for more kids!  If you know of anyone from ages 8 - 14 that might want to join in the fun please let them know about my Kids camps!  We meet one Sunday a month and it's a commitment from Oct - June!

Kids camp crafts part 2

"I love this, it's so much fun.  Way easier than knitting"

"I love weaving, I'm going to do this rather than play on my iPad"

Just some of the comments I heard this weekend when I taught the kids how to straw weave.  I'm not sure why this idea popped into my head but I remember learning this in Brownies many, many years ago.  I'm so happy I thought of it as the kids loved it and were excited about getting their own ball of yarn.

Straw Weaving

I forgot to take some pics of the kids weaving but here is a photo plus some online instructions.

And my Inky Thumbs group created a fun center piece for Easter dinner.

It's club tonight for the adults so I'll share more of what we have been up to with my Cardmakers group.

Kids camp mess!

What a fantastic weekend!  Gorgeous weather, and a fun and messy kids camp I planned.  Despite my best intentions I had to take loads of pics of our projects this weekend - I forgot.  I did get some messy pic of our shaving cream paper dying but not of everything so I'll share what we did do.

Our baking craft or a melting one as I called it.
Easter Pretzels:

Waffle pretzel and a coloured candy melt.   Bake for 10 min in a 225 degree oven.

Add candy and sprinkles to decorate.

Put in fridge to harden chocolate - Voila!
Shaving Cream technique :  Spray layer of shaving cream onto plate.  Squirt reinkers randomly onto shaving cream. Swirl with small stick and press paper into cream.  Remove excess with paper towels in a swirling motion.

Mess,

mess,

and some pretty paper

Makes some pretty cool cards.

Each person chose three different colours to create their own pattern paper.  We didnt have a ton of time to create all 5 cards but they did their best to prep and bunch of things and will assemble when they get home.

 Here are my finished cards.

I'll take some more pics tonight and post the other two craft we made this weekend.

Thanks for checking in.

Kids camp canvas projects

Last month at Kids camp we had an amazing time creating these canvas projects.  This is what happens when you unleash a bunch of creative kids with paint, glue and paper!  A creative but wonderful disaster area!

The Inky Thumbs group created a one word canvas masterpiece for their rooms.  They were all unique and special in their own way.

The Club Create group had 3 - 6x6 canvases to create for their rooms.  They could choose 3 words that describe them or mean something to them.

Hope you have a fantastic creative weekend!

Cheers,
K
