Halloween Happy Scenes

I will admit I don't make a lot of Halloween cards but I LOVE Stampin UP's Halloween goodies! We make the best stuff EVER!  I loved the cute corner stamp in the Happy Scenes stamp set so here is my take with the window thinlits too.

The photo doesn't really do this card justice (in my opinion) but it's because you can't see the black Glimmer paper.  I also trimmed my window to it would have straight sides and turned the die cut on it's edge.  I should add some of that spooky white cotton web stuff to this card too!

Cheers, I mean BOO to you!

Halloween Pillow box

Another fun sneak peek at the Square Pillow Box die.  I used the square window die to create a peek a boo hole in the box.

I stamped the trick or treat saying (can you see it?) on a window sheet with Staz On and made a bit of crinkly bits with Tangelo Twist card stock. I can see filling this box with caramels or a mini chocolate bar or two. Plus the spooky spiders are on the whole box too.

Check back tomorrow for a cute Christmas sample too!

K

Halloween Kids camp recap

This past weekend we had a super fun Kids camp!  Don't you just love it when all things go as planned.

First we made these adorable pumpkins for a center piece for their Thanksgiving dinners. I actually helped make 90 of these for a Stampin Up event and they were so cute I had to try them again with the kids. I believe the creator of this idea is Tamara Bertram.  Thanks for the idea Tamara!

Then my Club Create group made this beautiful door hanger.  One of my downline shared this idea she found on Pinterest and I thought it was beautiful.  Thank you to Carol Payne for the original idea.

And last but not least BOO bags!   Have you ever Boo'd anyone?  I remember doing this with the kids when they were little but not since.  So after we did the kids camp the boys each made 3 ghosts and a simple version of the bag of candy (aka ziploc bags) and boo'd a few on our street.  Can't wait to see who else will have a ghost in their window.

Here is the poem.

BOO
Halloween is in the air!
We boo’d your house,
but don’t be scared.

We like you a lot and think you’re neat,
So we left you this bag of Halloween treats.

Who could we be?
We never will tell.
That would break the BOO fun spell!

Happy Halloween!

I also added these instructions too.

Hang this ghost in your window to let neighbours know you have been “Boo’d”.  Copy this ghost poem and “Boo” 3 other friends.

Have a great day!

K

Happy Halloween!

Can't even comprehend where this month went.

Last night we began our search of checking out high schools for Andrew.  YIKES!  It's crazy I have to be looking into this now - he's my baby.  Just kidding (but he still kinda is).

Here is a fun fold Halloween card I made with my Kids Camp a week or so ago.  Who knows when it was, all I know is that November's camp is around the corner and I have a ton to do to get ready for it!

Have a happy and safe Halloween!

Sights from Halloween 2012

Well, despite the FREEZING temperatures in Calgary the kids (and Pete) braved the cold for free candy.  Was there ever any doubt??

Here are a few snapshots of the fun.

The kids and the HAUL!  I guess they like those Coffee Crisps!

The SORT!
So, I'm curious . . . do your kids do the big sort after they collect all the candy??  We started this when they were very little sorting all the dif kinds of chocolate bars, candies, chips, etc.  I thought all kids did this but then I talked to one mom and they didn't.  Is it the teacher in me that started all this??

Everyone loved our pumpkins!  Tons of compliments on our silly creatures.

K

My little black cat

Sorry my posts are all erratic.  That's what my days have been like - a little bit here and a little bit there.  I've been busy being MOM and not Stampin UP demo for the past three days you know the drill - homework, cooking, laundry, the usual, not so exciting stuff.

Here is a cat of a different colour that I forgot to post the other day.  Isn't she cute??  I think this is very Halloweeny.

I hope to have something creative and new to post for Friday so wish me luck.  I have a workshop to prep for!!!

Halloween Scrapbooking

I think my favourite holiday to scrapbook is Halloween.  Not sure why as I don't particularly love the colour orange but I just do :)

This year's paper choice Howlstooth and Scaringbone didn't scream out to me at first but once I began playing with it I realized how versatile this can be for Halloween or any masculine card or page.

I can't wait to add the kids Halloween pics from this year.  We bought the costumes almost 2 weeks ago - Whew!  That's a source of stress for me each year - deciding between homemade and bought, finding ones that fit and on and on.

I hope you have a great weekend!  I'm super busy with my Scrapbooker's club Friday, the Okotoks Scrapbook Convention ALL day on Saturday and Kids Camp ALL day on Sunday.  Why do I do this to myself????

I hope you have a fantastic weekend and stay warm.  Brrr it's going to get chilly this weekend!

Cheers,
K

A weekend cookie treat!

During my weekend Card Buffet I wanted to try out the new Sweet Pressed Cookie stamps.
They are 20.95 and come with the wooden handle and three interchangeable stamps - a pumpkin face, snowflake and heart.  Great for the three winter holidays. Stampin UP if you are listening we'd love to see more of these for those spring holidays.

The stamps come with two recipes and I tried the Sugar Cookie recipe - YUM! I "inked" the stamp in flour before stamping the round balls of cookie dough and it worked great.

For all of those who asked we had a fun Halloween.  Nathan was Darth Vader and Andrew was a Jawa.  Here are a few pictures of our Halloween evening.

Of course after you collect it then you have to sort it!

Have a fun day and don't eat too much candy :)

I ordered quite a few of these Design a House Decor Accent and when Nathan saw these he thought - COOL!

They are available on the Clearance Rack for just $2.99.   Check it out here.

Here is his Halloween creation.  Be safe and have fun tonight!

Time for scrapbooking!

This Friday is our scrapbook club meeting and it's all about Halloween!  My goal is to complete my journaling before club on Friday.  Wish me luck.

The left hand page is all about decorating our Halloween gingerbread house.  It's a tradition in the Burns' house.  The right hand page is trick or treating day. Andrew loves the chocolate bars and Nathan is all about the gummy, sugary candies!  I just love it all.

It's so much fun to use punches to create different things.  See if you can identify which punches I used.

Extra large oval, Boho Blossom and Bird punch

The owl - upside down!

Circle punches for the body, square punch for the legs, the spider web embossing folder with sponged Frost White paint!
Thanks for stopping by!

This weekend I took some photos of the creations by the girls this weekend.  Unfortunately, I only remembered to take photos on Sat and not Sunday :(

They were all fabulous.

Thanks for stopping by.

October Kids Stamp Camp

Tomorrow I will start a busy weekend of Kids Stamp Camp, Stamp a Stack, Paper Crafter's Workshop AND a Downline Snack and Share - so am I the only one that thinks this is this NUTS!

I think I'm going to be needing a LOT of sugar to get me through the weekend.  Thus the theme for this month's Kids Camp projects.

I love this candy "bag" that can double as a pencil/office supply holder. We'll fill it with treats too!

This chocolate bar holder will be made with my Club Create girls.  Thanks Allison Okamitsu and Mary Fish for this great idea!

And this year each group has asked to learn some new techniques so we'll be creating at least 2 techniques each month and they will each get an instruction sheet to they can re-create these at home.

My older group, Teen Crafter's Workshop is going to start a bigger project but it's not finished yet so I'll wait to show you that another time.

DO NOT forgot to check back tomorrow to see October's WOW class. The theme is Funky Folds Christmas Cards.  Class max is 9 and it's the first 9 people to sign up.

Cheers,
K

One more Halloween post

I took these pics before I sent them off to school on Friday.

I made these Candy Wrapper die Halloween treats for all of Nathan's class - only 24.  Yep, I'm crazy.  I was die cutting them at 10 pm at, folding them in the car while the kids were at piano, and Nath and I were stuffing them a Thursday night.  The things we do for our children.

I do love how they turned out though.

Cheers,
K
