Learn a few tricks from the Concept Artists!

While at Convention I attended a class taught by the concept artists at Stampin UP!  I know, lucky eh?  These are the ladies responsible for unbelievable creative samples in our catalogues, our Stampin Success magazine and display boards at our events.  All day long they play with ink, paper and ribbons but what I found surprising was that more than one of them had a finance background.  Huh, who would of thunk?

These fives ladies all taught/shared with us some of their fave things and each had a pennant designed for us to CASE (Copy and Share Everything).

Each of them had such a passion for their job, Stampin UP and especially for Summer Starfruit and Chevrons - I can tell ya, those are going to be super popular in papercrafting!!

One of the tricks I learned was how to make ombre ribbon out of the new 7/8" Cotton Ribbon (127844 - $9.95).  Here's how:

Cut a length of cotton ribbon

Fill one Aqua Painter (103954 - $20.95 for 2) with just isopropyl alcohol and the second Aqua Painter with 1/2 re-inker and 1/2 isopropyl alcohol.

Paint 1/2 of the ribbon with the Aqua Painter with reinker/alcohol mixture.  Use the just alcohol Aqua Painter to blend the colour through the ribbon.  Lay flat to dry or use a heat tool to speed it up the process.

Don't use paper towel to blot the moisture off as this is what happened to my coloured ribbon.

Voila!  See that fancy ribbon! If you want to make a darker edge along the ribbon you can run the same colour marker along the edge of the ribbon.

Check back tomorrow and I'll share with you the second tip I received from the Concept Artists!

Cheers,
K
